Track Review – Chrissy Murderbot – Bussin’ Down

Now part of Planet Mu’s import of juke/footwork/all things Chicago, Chrissy Murderbot came to prominence as a founder of Sleazetone Records. However, this track, featuring fellow Planet Muwbie DJ Spinn, is a bit different to recent Planet Mu anthology ‘Bangs and Works Vol.1’, which highlights the rise of the footwork movement. Yes, it does have those trademark faster-than-your-feet-can-work treble-friendly drums, but the whole thing also seems remiscent of a lot of recent Warp acts, such as Hudson Mohawke, Rustie and especially Detroit’s Jimmy Edgar, with it’s gushing synths and pitchshifted female vocals. The result is actually really good, and provides a bit more strength and depth to the growth of the footwork frame…erm…work.
