Track Review: Vessels – Meatman, Piano Tuner, Prostitute

Back in 2007, Vessels played for BTJ at the City Screen in York, demonstrating a perfectly well-honed, thick skinned post-rock machine. But new album Helioscope shies away from this as the band create a darker sound, which pulsates, reverberates and develops, rather than playing the quiet-LOUD post-rock dynamic card. Meatman, Piano Tuner, Prostitute, featuring singer-songwriter Stuart Warwick is a good example of this, using vocal echoes alongside Bjork-Medulla-era-esque chimes resulting in a disoriented, dazed climax.
